County Manager Announces the Selection of Linda Barfield as the County's New Chief Financial Officer

Eric Evans, Edgecombe County Manager, is happy to announce the selection of Linda Barfield as the County’s new Chief Financial Officer. The CFO position was recently created by the Board of Commissioners to elevate the former Finance Director position to an executive level role to better encompass the functions needed for the future of the County.

As CFO, she will lead a team of seven employees. Her many duties include managing the County’s fiscal resources, monitoring financial procedures and internal controls, providing regular and accurate reporting of the County’s financial condition, as well as advising the County Manager on policy and organization-wide budgeting.

Ms. Barfield, a native of Edgecombe County, holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Public Administration from Liberty University. She was previously employed by Edgecombe County as the Assistant Finance Director and then the Fiscal Officer for the Department of Social Services. She most recently worked for the Upper Coastal Plains Area Agency on Aging as the Assistant Program Director.

“We are extremely excited to have Ms. Barfield back on our team.”, said Eric Evans, County Manager. “She is a welcome addition to my executive team, and I’m proud to select her as our very first Chief Financial Officer”.

Ms. Barfield stated, “I am honored to serve our county with integrity and transparency. Our community is a wonderful place to call home, and I am committed to upholding a reputation as a responsible steward of public funds. I look forward to being a part of a strong leadership team earning and maintaining the trust of our citizens.”
