The Edgecombe County Office of Emergency Services priority is providing the highest level of service and care to the citizens of Edgecombe County through the coordinated efforts of both volunteer and career organizations working together prior to, during, and after an emergency.

We have three primary functions: Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, and the Fire Marshal's Office.

Emergency Management Division: Focused on a four-step process (planning and preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation), this department handles both natural and man-made disasters. This comprehensive approach ensures that the community is well-prepared for various emergency scenarios and can recover effectively afterwards.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division: With a fleet of ambulances and qualified prehospital professionals, this section is primed to provide prompt medical assistance. The presence of a Community Paramedic Program indicates a commitment to not only emergency care but also to community health and preventative measures. Our prehospital professionals staff six ambulances 24/7, one "peak-time" ambulance from 7a-8p, and two supervisors aboard QRVs 24/7.

Fire Marshal's Office: This office's role as a liaison between county government and local fire departments, along with its responsibility for fire inspections and education, highlights its importance in maintaining fire safety standards and prevention measures in the community.
