Although our primary function as EMS providers is to respond to medical emergencies and provide lifesaving care, our agency offers much more to the community. Learn more below. 

• 911 Response
  • As stated above, this is our primary responsibility to the community. If being transported to the hospital, there are different rates depending on the level of service that the patient requires. 
    • BLS base fee: $500.00
    • ALS 1 base fee: $600.00
    • ALS 2 base fee: $900.00
    • Mileage fee transported: $12.00/ per mile (in County mileage)
    • ALS Treatment with Refusal of Transport: $250 billed to the patient

• Community Paramedic Program
  • Established in May of 2023 with Opioid Settlement Funds, Edgecombe County EMS partnered with the Edgecombe County Public Health Dept to staff one community paramedic during the typical work week. This paramedic provides in-home visits and assists patients/families with various needs. 
  • We also include Narcan distribution and a syringe exchange program for citizens that are interested.

• • For large events, it may be a good idea to have our prehospital providers on-site in case of a medical emergency. There are different options for staffing levels, vehicles, and equipment so we can meet the needs for the event. Each option has different pricing. Please contact Chad Eason (EMS Coordinator) to set up a special event. The request should be made as early as possible so we can ensure the event will be staffed.
  • Listed below are the options: 
    • Ambulance Standby (2 staff, transport capable)
      • $140.00/hourly
    • QRV Standby (1 staff, non-transport)
      • $100.00/hourly
    • Foot Patrol/Bike Team (2 staff, no vehicle)
      • $90.00/hourly
    • UTV (off-road vehicle) (2 staff)
      • $110.00/hourly
    • Medical Command Unit (required when multiple teams are deployed)
      • $150.00/hourly
  • Minimum of 3 hours required to book the special event teams

• Public Relations / Education / Outreach
  • We also facilitate educational opportunities encompassing: basic first aid, CPR/AED awareness, ambulance walk-throughs, and public speaking about EMS. Church groups, festivals, classrooms, and daycare settings are some of the places that we have engaged the community over the past year.
  • In May of 2022 we partnered with the Edgecombe Early College and put on an "EMS Academy" for high school age students. We showcased EMS as a profession and provided instruction on basic first aid, use of tourniquets, CPR/AED training, medication administration, wilderness medicine, search and rescue, as well as naloxone use.
