Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
Description : Emergency Medical Technician- Paramedic: The Edgecombe County Emergency Services
Department is accepting applications for a full-time Emergency Medical Technician -Paramedic. This position performs advanced level life support, transport, stabilization procedures, and emergency medical care at the Paramedic Level in the Emergency Services program of the County. Work is performed in accordance with established EMS Division operating guidelines and under local medical director approved protocols.
Essential duties include responding to emergency calls in an ambulance and performs necessary rescue work in accordance with established protocols for advanced life support; administers necessary emergency medical care requiring the use of suction units, immobilization equipment, intravenous infusions, syringes and medications, and cardiac monitors/defibrillator/pacers, and performance of intubation/advanced airway management. Administering basic/advanced life support to patients at the scene, en-route to the hospital and in a pre-hospital setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards; Completes necessary records and reports for emergency calls including information for billing documentation, and legal accountability; Properly
document each transport on the approved Patient Care Report in accordance with Edgecombe County EMS policies and procedures; Participates in a continuous training program to improve competence in medical technical work and in ambulance service and operation; Inspects, cleans, sanitizes and tests ambulances and their emergency equipment, maintaining proper inventory of equipment and supplies; With appropriate training and assignment, may serve as a Preceptor, serving as a mentor to assigned new employees or students completing clinical hours, evaluating competency and performance; may serve as a clinical coordinator assigning and tracking the assignment of preceptors to employees or students. Perform other related duties as required.
Must have a minimum of either a high school diploma or a GED as evidence of completion of a high school education, and must have and maintain current state emergency medical technician certification and be in good standing with the Medical Director. Must have and maintain other applicable certificates and licenses including but not limited to: a current state Paramedic certification, American Heart Association BLS certification, EVOC/EVD certification, other certifications such as ACLS, ITLS/PHTLS, PALS/PEP and others, within timeframes established by the County.
A valid North Carolina driver’s license, pre-employment drug testing and background check are required.

Salary: The salary range for this position, not including overtime, begins at $35,945. The starting pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of the candidate. The county offers excellent benefits that total over $10,000 annually.
