The Edgecombe County Manager’s Office is accepting applications for a full-time, time-limited Physical Activity and Nutrition Coordinator. This position is grant funded and expected to last for eleven (11) months. The selected candidate will be employed through a temporary agency but will report to the County Manager or his designee.

This position is responsible for collaborating with county partners to promote active routes (i.e. sidewalks, bike lanes, trails, etc.) that connect to everyday destinations like parks, schools, workplaces, grocery stores, etc. This includes collaborating with county partners and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board to promote and implement the Edgecombe County Parks and Recreation Master Plan, the Safe Routes to School Resolution, share-used agreements, and the development and installation of wayfinding projects.

The selected candidate will be required to identify and engage historically marginalized populations (i.e. racial minorities, persons with disabilities, older adults, etc.) in all data collection, planning, and decision-making processes, and will be responsible for documenting this engagement. Participation in additional policy, systems, and environmental change activities that promote active transportation within Edgecombe County may also be requested. This position is required to submit monthly program reports and participate in other evaluation activities as needed.

A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred. Experience in grant and project administration is also preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

A valid North Carolina driver’s license, pre-employment drug testing and background check are required.

Pay is up to $28 per hour and no benefits are provided. The starting pay is dependent on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
