Description : Emergency Medical Technician - Advanced: The Edgecombe County Emergency Services
Department is accepting applications for a full-time Emergency Medical Technician- Advanced. This position performs advanced level life support, transport, stabilization procedures, and emergency medical care at the Advanced EMT Level in the Emergency Services program of the County. Work is performed in accordance with established EMS Division operating guidelines and under local medical director approved protocols.
Essential duties include responding to the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons, and transporting persons to a medical appointments and medical facilities in accordance with established protocols for advanced life support; administers necessary emergency medical care requiring the use of suction units, immobilization equipment, intravenous infusions, syringes and medications, and cardiac monitors/defibrillator/pacers, and performance of intubation/advanced airway management. Completes necessary records and reports for emergency calls including information for billing documentation, and legal accountability. Properly document each transport on the approved Patient Care Report in accordance with Edgecombe County EMS policies and procedures; Participates in a continuous training program to improve competence in medical technical work and in ambulance service and operation; studies street and road patterns of the County. Inspects and tests ambulances and their emergency equipment, maintaining proper inventory of equipment and supplies; cleans and sanitizes ambulance and equipment and ensures that they are in proper and good working order. Perform other related duties as required.
Must have a minimum of either a high school diploma or a GED as evidence of completion of a high school education, and must have and maintain current state emergency medical technician certification and be in good standing with the Medical Director. Must have and maintain other applicable certificates and licenses including but not limited to: a current state Advanced EMT certification, American Heart Association BLS certification, EVOC/EVD certification, other certifications such as ACLS, ITLS/PHTLS, PALS/PEP and others, within timeframes established by the County.
A valid North Carolina driver’s license, pre-employment drug testing and background check are required.

Salary: The salary range for this position, not including overtime, begins at $32,603. The starting pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of the candidate. The county offers excellent benefits that total over $10,000 annually.
