Position Number: 165-40-054
This position is located within the Work First Employment unit. Position evaluates, assesses and provides social work, supportive services and case management services to recipients who are referred through the local and state referral system. The primary purpose of the job is to promote personal responsibility and self-sufficiency through job placement. This includes appraising skills, experience, education and motivation to reach employment placement goals. Position also take applications in Work First Benefit Diversion, Work First Emergency Assistance (EA), Helping Hands Across the Community, Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) and the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP). A valid NC driver’s license and access to a passenger vehicle is required. Employees operating their personal vehicles for county business shall maintain the minimum liability coverage required by the State of North Carolina in accordance with the County Fleet Policy and Employee Safety Program (page 10, section.) 
Position is located in the Tarboro office however; office location may change based on the needs of the agency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems. Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment. Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources. Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program. Skill in establishing rapport with a client and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial. behavioral, and psychological aspects of client's problem. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative superiors, members of case load and their families, and with civics medical, social and religious organizations. Ability to express Ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work. 

Minimum Training and Experiment Requirements: Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and one year directly related experience; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience. Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. 

Preferences: Prefer applicants with strong computer experience and/or knowledge of State Network Systems to include NC FAST, imaging programs and Windows software including Microsoft Word. Bilingual applicants (English/Spanish) encouraged to apply. 

Starting Salary if Fully Qualified: $32,603.00 or possibly higher depending on experience and credentials. Compensation for full-time employees include excellent benefits that total over $9,000.00 annually.
