Fire & Rescue Emergencies

Edgecombe County contracts with fifteen (15) volunteer fire departments to provide fire protection for the citizens of the county. Of the fifteen departments, ten are geographically based in Edgecombe County. The other five are based in Nash and Pitt Counties.

Edgecombe County also contracts with four (4) volunteer rescue squads to provide rescue and emergency medical services for the citizens of the county. Presently, there are approximately 450 volunteer fire and rescue personnel county-wide. These men and women donate their time and skills to their communities to provide fire, rescue, and EMS services.

All of the volunteer fire departments and rescue squads, 9-1-1 Communications Center, the NC Forest Service (Edgecombe County Office), the Town of Tarboro Fire Department, and the Edgecombe County Emergency Services Office are members of the Edgecombe County Fire and Rescue Association. This Association works to promote fire, safety, rescue, and a unified response to incidents county wide.

Please support your local volunteer fire and rescue departments.
