Absentee Voting By Mail

To mail an absentee ballot to a registered voter, the board of elections must receive a letter by mail or by fax written entirely by the voter and signed by the voter. The letter should give the voter’s name, residential address, date of birth, and the address to which the ballot should be mailed.

The letter may be faxed to 252-641-1740 or mailed to the address below:

Edgecombe County Board of Elections
PO Box 10
Tarboro, NC 27886

The time period to request a mailed absentee ballot will be announced at a future time. Any request received after these dates will not be honored and no ballot will be mailed.

If you request a ballot by e-mail or by phone, we will mail you a request form that must be signed and returned by fax or by mail so that we receive that completed form no later than the above deadlines.

Voted ballots must be returned to the board of elections office by 5:00 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. If hand-delivered, the ballot may only be returned by the voter or a near relative of the voter.
