Waste Water / Septic Systems

The Wastewater Section of the Division of Environmental Health is comprised of environmental health specialists who are dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting public health.  This is accomplished through a variety of responsibilities, some of which include: 

• responding to complaints
• issuing/denying septic tank system permits
• inspecting septic systems and water supply wells

On-Site Wastewater Permit Process

The applications for an Improvement Permit and/or Construction Authorization Permit are vital part of the permitting process and must be accurately and thoroughly completed.  North Carolina State Laws and Rules for Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems and the Edgecombe County Board of Health require the application for an Improvement Permit and/or Construction Permit contain the information noted below.
