Food, Lodging & Institution Program
The Food, Lodging and Institution Program is responsible for plan review and sanitation inspections of food service establishments such as restaurants, food stands, push carts, mobile food units, meat markets, school lunchrooms, temporary food stands at festivals, and institutional food service. The program also covers plan review and inspection of hotels, motels, bed and breakfast inns and homes, summer camps, tattoo artists, residential care facilities, hospitals, nursing homes, swimming pools, local confinement facilities, and adult day service facilities. The program provides food safety education and is an active participant in the Public Health Preparedness Team for food borne outbreaks, disaster response and bioterrorism response.
FOOD ESTABLISHMENT PLAN REVIEW APPLICATION
The intent of this application is to answer questions that are not provided on the plans regarding the operation of the facility and to provide the local health department official with the operational procedures when the facility opens.
Local health Department Review Process
Effective October 1, 2002 the Environmental Health Section will charge a fee for plans submitted for the review process. Upon completing the application and submitting the plans needed, the following payment must be submitted to this department before the review process can take place.
APPLICATION FEE: $200.00
Environmental Health Plan Review Section
Please be aware that franchised, chain, and prototypical type plans are required to be submitted to the Health Services Section: Facility and Plan Review Unit, Parker Lincoln Building, Room 1A109, 2728 Capital Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27604 for review.
A “prototype franchised or chain facility” as defined by this department is any chain or franchised facility that has the same basic menu and equipment arrangement
. If there is any question as to where to submit the plan please contact us. A $200.00 plan review fee must accompany all plans required to be reviewed by the plan review section in Raleigh.
