DARE

The DARE program consist of a corporal from the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office. This deputy also serves as a positive role model while ensuring that the DARE message is delivered effectively and professionally.

DARE is a program that is offered to any 5th grade student in an Edgecombe County school. The three main components of the DARE program are the Sheriff’s Office, the Edgecombe County School System, and the parents of the student. The program is designed to help kids to resist the pressures of drugs and violence. DARE is an eleven week program taught by a certified Law Enforcement Officer. The classes are usually one hour long and once a week for eleven weeks and guided by a state wide curriculum.
